Kelly Ross will be riding in PTC in memory and celebration of Susan Berkbigler.
As most of you know, our mom, Susan Berkbigler was an amazing person. She led her life always helping others, looking at the positive all the world had to offer and adding cheer to the day of anyone she encountered. She was very proud of her alma mater, WashU, of her employment with Edward Jones and her involvement with Pedal the Cause (PTC).
Each and every year, she not only fund-raised and did the ride itself but also volunteered at almost every other volunteer opportunity offered. She loved it when "PTC time of the year" arrived!
It seems that when you go through life like this that you should live to be 100 and certainly not die of cancer but as our dad often says, "life isn't fair" and so we lost her on August 24, 2023 from complications of cancer. We also lost our uncle, Dale Berkbigler this year from a rare form of cancer of the appendix, Kerry's father-in-law and our grandmother long-ago from colon cancer. The list of friends and other lost family members is sadly too long to include. We have been blessed that multiple members of our family with breast cancer, including Kerry herself, are cancer-free, a testament to the progress and hope research has brought to cancer!
Aside from talking about our mom constantly, PTC is the way in which we are able to remember and celebrate her best while helping future families avoid the grief of losing someone much much too early. PTC is rare amongst non-profits in that 100% of your donation goes to research for cancer. Edward Jones completely and generously covers the overhead of PTC so that your money can have the greatest impact.
Every penny of every dollar donated funds innovative cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital, driving new treatments, clinical trials and discoveries that are improving patient outcomes here and throughout the world. Please support our efforts to create a world without cancer and remember Susan in a way that would make her so proud with a donation of any size to our fundraiser by clicking the DONATE button on the profile page.
