In June 2022, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 HER2+ Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.
Through a biopsy, lumpectomy, chemotherapy, monoclonal antibody treatment, radiation, and the ongoing adjustment to daily estrogen blockers, I fought not just cancer—but to hold on to who I was beyond being a patient. It was not an easy journey, but I couldn’t have done it without the science and research driving advancements at St. Louis’ own Siteman Cancer Center, the incredible nursing staff who administered my infusions, my oncology and radiation team, and the community of support that surrounds cancer patients every day. Post cancer, I have a team of physicians and nurses at Siteman who follow my heath closely and I see in real time how ongoing research changes protocol for cancer patients in treatment and post treatment.
This year marks another milestone—my second year post-cancer where I feel strong enough to ride for others! I will continue to ride and raise funds to fight cancer as long as I'm able!
I ride to honor those still fighting, those we've lost, and the lifesaving research that gives us hope for a cancer-free future.
