Pedal the Cause

My story is like so many others... personally affected by someone(s) who have, had or lost their battle with cancer. I lost my mother to cancer. It was a brutal quick downturn ending up with her passing on July 6, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish.  The loss of a parent to cancer is profound and challenges the family. It is something I want no others to go through. 

Even more devastating is the effects of cancer on children. In 2018 Taylor Marti was diagnosed and five years ago he finished treatment for ATRT - a rare and high mortality brain cancer. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when my best friend called and told me the news that their 5 year old boy has cancer. 

While treatment of cancer had finished the effects of all the trauma Taylor has gone through left him with many challenges he faces to this day with the support of his family and community.
