Pedal the Cause

Three years ago, I met a little boy – Hudson - who gave the biggest, most precious hugs in the world and I was so fortunate to receive many of them.  Hudson stole my heart, and his sweetness and bravery has been a loving, driving source of inspiration to me and so many others who shadowed his brain cancer journey, that started at age 2.   The doctors and nurses at Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital did everything possible, and yet, this past Spring, Hudson joined the angels at the age of 8.  His pictures are beside me every day, and words can’t express how badly I want to do something that will change the trajectory for other children and adults who are afflicted by cancer, and that’s why I reach out to friends and family like you, to ask for your support.  Pedal the Cause exists to "fund the research" which is proving to find ways to manage or eradicate this awful disease which has affected us all .

Pedal’s 17th annual cycling challenge takes place September 19-20 and the goal is break last year's record of $5million and add to the $56million that Pedal has raised over the last 16 years.  Our fundraising remains open past the event, until October 31, so there is still time to give!

 I hope you will consider a gift of $25 or any amount, and know that 100% of what you give will go directly to the research emanating from Siteman, which is proving to garner 14 times that much from the NIH and  NC, to advance the early-stage projects our funding starts!

Every day, I carry Hudson, and I carry my mother Barbara Jean Gallander, and I know that each of you may carry the memory of someone dear who has been lost, or carry hope for someone who is fighting cancer right now. There is something you can do... which is to support the research which is "
the best answer to cancer."
