Pedal the Cause

Dave Hopper (Marty to his father Ron) was a 7-time Pedal the Cause rider, a Featured Fighter, a top fundraiser (3-time Road Warrior and 3-time Podium raising $127,782.81 over the course of his lifetime) and the inspiration for the creation of Team Stifel. The Pedal Family will always remember his vibrant smile, his kind and giving spirit as well as his passion for creating a world without cancer. Dave knew that prior research had extended his life expectancy and raising funds for Pedal and participating in clinical research trials was his way of paying it forward for future patients and their families.
 
March 15th marks the anniversary of Dave's passing and has become the official PTC Kick-off date for Stifel Bank and Trust!  Since his passing, Dave's memorial account has raised an additional $56,000!

Dave (Marty) was a HUGE Mizzou Hoops fan!! Every March he waited (and still we wait) for that Mizzou Final Four run!  This March, let's help Marty stop the Cancer Madness while we enjoy some March Madness college hoops!
 
Below is what Pedal meant to Dave in his own words from his 7-year rider profile:
 
"I'm still alive today because of the cancer research that has been done over the last 10 years. I have advanced prostate cancer that has spread to my lymph nodes and bones, and I have been told there is NO CURE for my condition, and that only 1 in 3 people with my diagnosis live longer than 5 years. I digested this diagnosis 5.5 years ago (ultimately Dave had a 7-year+ survival!) and I am still going. I ride because my hope is that fewer and fewer people, and eventually no one will have to hear the words I heard YOU HAVE CANCER AND THERE IS NO CURE FOR YOUR DISEASE. More and more people are being diagnosed with cancer each year and this is a chance to join the fight to help. 
 
My family and I are joining the fight against cancer by participating in the Pedal the Cause bike challenge. Pedal the Cause has the mission to provide funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital through their annual cycling challenge in hopes that the research funded by their event will ultimately lead to a cure for all types of cancer."
