Ten years ago this summer, my world was shattered by a single, devastating word: cancer.
That word launched an agonizing 18-month battle. For 16 months, we fought with everything we had—fueled by hope, driven by belief, and pushing through the brutal daily grind of chemo and radiation. But then came the final two months, and the crushing words no one should ever have to hear: "Months, not years."
But cancer does not get the final word.
To mark this 10-year anniversary, I am participating in Pedal the Cause. This isn't just a bike ride; it is a movement. I am proud to ride and raise funds for groundbreaking research at our local, world-class institutions—funding the exact science that is changing how we treat, fight, and ultimately cure cancer. Every penny of every dollar donated funds innovative cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital, driving new treatments, clinical trials, and discoveries that are improving patient outcomes. Please support my efforts to create a world without cancer with a donation of any size to my fundraiser by clicking the DONATE button on my profile page.
Let's get to the point where no one has to hear the words, "Months, not years."
