Pedal the Cause

Let me start with some honesty: as I sat down to write this message and think through the reasons I ride in Pedal each year, I was stunned by how many names crossed my mind and how many reasons I have to support the fight against cancer. Frankly, this list is too long - too many loved ones personally afflicted, too many friends and family members turned caregivers, and too many wonderful people lost whose memories I cherish. I ride for each of them, both in their honor and in their memory.

Pedal is a family affair for the Mars crew. My dad started his friends and family team - Big Black Dog - the year after he kicked cancer's butt, and we've participated every year since. Being a part of the growing impact that Pedal has had on the St. Louis community over the years I've participated has been so meaningful, especially knowing that the funds raised have gone directly toward cancer research initiatives at Siteman. Being able to see firsthand the impact Pedal has had on cancer research initiatives has been such a gift, and I'm trilled to be participating in yet another PTC weekend.

I'm proud to captain Team NISA and continue supporting the fight against cancer. This year I'm committed to raising $2,500 toward finding the answer to cancer, and I look forward to taking Pedal's funds raised even higher!
