Pedal the Cause

TWO YEARS! It seems like a million years ago that I heard the term 'CarT Cell Therapy' for the first time. It was not just another try at putting my Diffuse Large B cell Lymphoma into remission; it was its OBLITERATION! And it all started at Siteman, thanks to the brilliant doctors and staff in St. Louis - and played out in my own home, where I spent my days recovering, enjoying my life, my family, my friends, my grandkids, and my own bed. Lucky me!

My doctors are my heroes - starting with Dr. Nancy Bartlett, the honored captain of the Bartlett's Bikers team, and my straight-shooting, brilliant guide through this whole experience. Additionally, I give an enthusiastic shout out to Dr. Amanda Cashen, who heads the Cellular Therapy program as well as doctors Robert Bucelli, Joanna Yang, Jack Jennings and their teams. A big thank you to the Barnes West County infusion team, who pumps up my immunity every 6 weeks. And hugs and kisses to my own personal oncologist, Dr. Michael Kramer, who helped every single step along the way, adding information and support, and bringing all these smart people to me. Michael's oncology research at Washington University is in the area of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and through his affiliation with Siteman, he personally witnesses many promising cancer treatments which are initially funded by donations from Pedal the Cause. Thanks as well to my incredible family, Robert, Lauren, Matt, Sara, Stephanie and Peter, whose love and help and encouragement made my recovery so much easier, and who are the BEST cheerleaders.
