Pedal the Cause

I am proud to once again join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.  You could say I take this effort personally. May, 2023 I received an autologous stem cell transplant to treat my Multiple Myeloma.  It put me in a "Very Good Partial Remission" that was good enough to allow me to do the 20 mile Pedal the Cause course with Michele in September.  Fall went well, but 2024 brought a minor backslide.  Testing dictated a new regimen to attack it, a path proven by the sort of research that Pedal the Cause helps fund.  I am now in the middle of Cycle 28 of that regimen.  Wow!!  Every year research yields new medicines and new combinations to fight MM.  The doctors and scientists also work to fine-tune treatments to increase efficacy and decrease side-effects to help patients get better outcomes.  I am happy to report that I am now in an even better place than I was after the transplant. I'm feeling good enough that this year Michele and I are going to do the 30 mile ride again, including those crazy hills in downtown St. Charles.  I feel so blessed.  It wouldn't be possible without the wonderful care I have gotten from my entire care team at Siteman and all the other dedicated people behind the scenes that make it all happen.  And I know the power of all the prayers so many have said for me since this journey started.  God Bless you all!
