Pedal the Cause

If I could turn back time to my 13-year-old self, I would emphasize one crucial message daily: WEAR SUNSCREEN! NO TANNING BEDS! Life teaches us lessons, and when my dermatologist discovered my first melanoma in 2007, I was pretty surprised. Despite learning to apply sunscreen daily, I was again surprised and nervous to face a second melanoma in 2026. Thankfully, both were caught early and removed, leaving me with scars that I now use to dramatically warn my kids and nieces and nephews about sun protection!

I'm also riding in honor of my brother-in-law, David, who was our family's first direct experience with cancer treatment. Witnessing how this journey affected my sister and nieces gave me profound respect for medical facilities like Siteman. Their incredible care limited his treatment to just nine weeks, and every staff member we encountered was compassionate and supportive. We felt incredibly fortunate to have such an exceptional treatment center within driving distance.

When my sister proposed participating in this event, how could I possibly refuse? My boss has generously agreed to sponsor our team, and we are committed to training and riding to celebrate survivors and honor everyone touched by cancer.

By participating in this event and teaming up with Mahoney Law Firm, we hope to raise awareness, funds, and most importantly, hope for those currently fighting cancer and their loved ones.

Pedal the Cause is hope, community and the region’s most impactful movement to end cancer. I am proud to participate and to play a part in funding groundbreaking research at our local, top-ranked institutions that is changing the way we treat and cure cancers.
