Pedal the Cause

I have spent my career as a scientist working on cancer vaccines, and many miles on the road as a cyclist—not just for the love of the ride, but to raise support for patients and families touched by cancer.

This year, however, the road carries a deeper weight. In early August, within the span of a single week, I received the heartbreaking news that my dearest cousin in China and my dearest friend in St. Louis were both diagnosed with cancer.

So this year I will ride for them. I will ride for the cure, strengthened by His mercy and love. I will ride for the people who are the heartbeat of our lives, and for the families who hold them close. Every mile will be an offering—for love, for hope, and for the day when no one has to face this disease again.
