We ride for Liam. We ride so we do not forget. His laugh, smile, spirit and his tenacity while fighting an evil monster. We ride because that battle is not over. That monster, the villain of this story, is cancer. And it is still out there and any of us can be next.
We ride to honor his fight. Liam Dean Riney was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma at age 9, he leaped, lego-ed, mountain biked, gamed and Wizarded smiling through what had to hurt - for a long 18 months. Now it is our turn to mount a challenge to fund research, discovery and innovation. Because the prayers we prayed for Liam were bigger than just him. They were a hope for treatments and a cure. They were for a better world, where his story doesn't happen to anyone else. We ride because he was only 10 and no child, no family should ever have to go through such a horrible thing. And maybe someday they won't have to.
