My Journey

As I prepare for my 5th Pedal the Cause ride, my journey looks a little different this year. This year it is very personal to me as I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2025. The initial plan was to have a bilateral mastectomy and then move on with my life. Unfortunately, the pathology report changed to Stage 1 invasive carcinoma which requires chemotherapy treatments. I had surgery on April 15, 2026, and I will begin my chemo treatments on June 10, 2026. The treatment will continue until June 2027. I'm very grateful for the specialized treatment I will receive as the success is in the 90% for no reoccurrence! I realize if it were not for organizations like Pedal the Cause, there would not be the funding to research and develop specific cancer treatments like this one.
