My Story with Pedal the Cause

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.  This is my sixth year to participate in Pedal the Cause, as a member of the team called Amying for a Cure.  This team of riderswas created by my good friend Rich Finley to celebrate his wife Amy's successful struggle with cancer a few years ago.  Amy's cancer was rather aggressive, and her friends and family were all concerned for her future.  Her treatment regimen was far from easy, and included surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.  She lost her hair from this, but it grew back later, and Amy was finally declared to be free of cancer after nearly 3 years of  discomfort and uncertainty that she endured.  And she remains cancer- free to this day!

In my lifetime, I have known many others who had to fight this dreadful disease,  and I'm sure you have too. All of the funds I can raise in this effort will go toward cancer research performed either at Barnes Hospital in St Louis, or at St Louis Children's Hospital, which are both affiliated with the Siteman Center.   Over the 15 years since it was started, Pedal the Cause has raised a grand total of $51,016,352 so far.  And it has funded 255 research projects, which includes at least 57 projects targeting pediatric cancers.   Yes, Kids can get cancer, too!. My own nephew developed a malignant brain called tumor when he was only 4 or 5 years old.  Luckily, he was treated effectivly, and he survived, but there were several months when this outcome was very uncertain..

Pedal the Cause pays for all the  infrastructure and the contractor services required to orchestrate this huge event with money from its corporate sponsors.  This ensures that all donations from individuals can go directly into funding clinical trials and other important research to find more ways to defeat the various types of cancer that can occur in people (There are more than 250 different cancers that we know of,

Pedal the Cause was started in part to fund cancer research that the Federal Government  cannot or will not fund, for various reasons. And this year, as you may know already, the Federal Gov't actually cut the overall budget for this important research. This will make private contributions for this type of research all the more important!

Please support my efforts by donating to my fundraiser, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital.  My goal is 375 dollars - if just 15 people will pledge $25 each, that will cover the total amount.

Many thanks to anyone who can and will contribute  to this very worthy Cause!  😀😍🤩
