Pedal the Cause

This year feels different.  For 12 years I have proudly joined Pedal the Cause to raise money for life-saving research.  And for 12 years my biggest supporter and most generous donor, my Aunt Barbara, has encouraged me from the sidelines.  For 6 of those years, she herself was fighting.  First breast cancer and then small cell lung cancer. This year we lost her to this terrible disease that has taken so much from so many of us.  I ride in Barbara's honor and memory this year.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           I ride for all of those who have faced or will face a life-changing cancer diagnosis.  I ride for 2 aunts, a cousin, a childhood best friend and a bonus father figure who have lost their battles with cancer, for another aunt who is currently fighting and for the ones, who against the odds, can be called survivors.  I also ride for those who love them.                                                                                                                                                                                                                And once again, I ride for (and with) my best friend, who just happens to be my mom, the strongest woman I know.  Thirteen years after being diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian Cancer, she is doing great, because of the miraculous treatments and medicines she received, and I will ride by her side on the 20th. We are hopeful for the future but aware the journey may not be over and that there is no cure.  More research needs to be done, and research is expensive.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.   Every dollar that you give not only stays in St. Louis, but 100% goes to important life-saving research.  No donation is too small, and every donation is truly appreciated.
