Pedal the Cause

I am one of the lucky ones.  I received a melanoma diagnosis in May 2009.  It was a mole that was just a pain in my back.  I can’t ever remember it not being there.  One day it got caught on a shirt and starting bleeding.  I thought I should get it looked at.  That started the chaotic process. My wife was 8 1/2 months pregnant, I was working a lot, I didn’t have time for any of it.  The dermatologist cut out a large chunk and stitched it up.  She sent the sample off to get tested at the lab.  A few days later I got the phone call no one wants.  It was positive for cancer.  Then starts the the testing, surgery, oncologist visits and all the chaos.  Like I said, I’m one of the lucky ones.  Stage 1 less than 1mm and a 95% survival rate at 5 years.  16 years later with no other issues I’m a lucky one. I ride for those who can’t.  I will be riding the max distance of 100 miles.  Please help me reach my goal so we can make other people the lucky ones!
